So, Here's the fantastically classic recipe for south indian style Dal Tadka for those midweek blues.

COOKING TIME : 20 : 25 MINUTES

SERVE :2-4


INGREDIENTS Of How To Make Dal Tadka

FOR COOKING DAL

● 1 Cup Toor Dal, Washed

● 1 Heaped Tabespoon Urad Dal, Washed

● 6 - 7 Cup Water

● Salt to Taste

● 1 Tablespoon Digi Red Chilli Powder

● Half Table Spoon Turmeric Powder

● 1:4 Tablespoon Asafoetida

FOR GINGER GARLIC PASTE

● 1 inc Ginger, peeled Slice

● 2-4 Garlic cloves

● 2 Green Chillies, Broken into half


FOR TADKA

● 1 TableSpoon Oil

● 2-4 Fenugreek Seeds

● Prepared Ginger Garlic Paste

● Half Cup Shallots or 1 Medium Onion, Chopped

● 1 Sprig Curry Leaves

● 1 : 4 Tablespoon Turmeric Powder

● 1:4 Tablespoon Degi Red Chilli Powder

● Half Tablespoon Coriander Powder

● 1 Medium Tomato, Chopped

● Boiled Dal

● Salt to Taste

● 1 Sprig Curry Leavee, Roughly Torn

FOR SECOND TADKA

● 2-3 Tablespoon Ghee

● 1 and half tablespoon Cumin seeds

● 9-10 buttons chillies

● 1:4 tablespoon Asafoetida

● 1:4 Tablespoon Degi red chilli powdee


FOR RICE TADKA

● 1 Tablespoon Ghee

● 1 Tablespoon Cumin Seeds

● 1:4 Tablespoon Asafoetida

● 1 Table Spoon Coriander Leaves, Chopped


FOR GARNISH : Coriander Sprig

PROCESS OR STEPS OF HOW TO MAKE DAL TADKA

FOR COOKING DAL :

In a Pressure Cooker, add Water , Toor dal, urad dal, salt to taste, degi red chilli powder, turmeric, asafoetida and cook it for 2-3 Whistles or until the dal is soft. Mas it with the help of laddle, keep it aside for further use.

FOR GINGER GARLIC PASTE

In a Mortar Pastle, add ginger, garlic,green chillies and make a coarse paste, Keep it aside for further use.

FOR TADKA

In a pan, add oil, once it's hot , add fenugreek seeds, prepared ginger garlic garlic paste and cook for a minutes. add shallot and cook for a 2-3 minutes or until translucent. add curry leaves and cook. add turmeric powder, degi red chilli powder, coriander powder, tomatos, water and cook well. add cooked dal , add salt to taste, curry leaves and let it simmer for a while. Transfer the dal to a serving bowl, add prepared second tadka and serve hot with tadka rice.

FOR SECOND TADKA

In a pan, add oil, once it's hot , add cumin seeds, and let it splutter. add button red chillies, asafotida, degi red chilli powder and toss well. keep it aside for further use.

FOR RICE TADKA 

In a Small Pan, add ghee, once it's hot add cumin and let it splutter,  add asafoetida, coriander leaves and cook for 20-30 sec, spread the tadka on top of the cooked rice.
